Dr. Dipak Shah has been working as an independent Consultant Physician and GI Endoscopist in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology since his post-graduation in 2001. He practises at the Proton Clinic in Kolkata and is a Visiting Physician and Gastroenterologist with the Shree Vishudhanand Hospital and Research Institute and the Kothari Medical Centre in Kolkata, and the Alpha Nursing Home in Howrah. He is also associated with the Marwari Relief Society Hospital and the Shree Vishudhanand Saraswati Marwari Hospital, Kolkata, and the Shree Jain Hospital, Howrah.

Apart from his main medical qualifications, Dr. Shah has also completed two specialised fellowships in endoscopy. This included a 10-day observership course at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad, under Dr. D Nageswar Reddy. Dr. Shah has an active and special interest in the areas of GERD, IBS and viral hepatitis. He has been regularly attending national conferences in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology to increase his knowledge in the subject.

After his MBBS, Dr. Dipak Shah was stationed as Senior House Officer at Calcutta Medical College in 1996, during which period he underwent intensive endoscopy training in the Gastroenterology unit. He served as Junior Resident in the Department of Paediatrics at the same institution from May 1997 to April 1998. Later, he cleared the examinations of the Royal College of Physicians, London, in the field of Internal Medicine and obtained the title of MRCP (UK) in November 2010.

Dr. Dipak Shah has regularly been carrying out upper GI endoscopies, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies at the Shree Vishudhanand Hospital. He has his own upper GI video endoscope. Till date, he has performed about 25,000 gastroscopies and 3,000 colonoscopies. Dr. Shah is an active member of several associations connected to medicine and gastroenterology. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Bengali and Marwari. An award winner during his school days for academic excellence and leadership qualities, his hobbies include reading, driving, music and sports.
